Safety is key: at the outset of treatment letting parents, guardians and caregivers know that this is a safe pace for people to communicate and what is discussed here will not be held against other parties outside of treatment.

Family therapy may include all family members: mom, dad, guardians, step parents, sister, brother etc.. or dyads, triads or just those willing to participate. Every families plan of action in session is different and unique. Family therapy sessions can help family members connect and understand each other, hopefully these connections will carry over long after treatment has ended.
